Second-best week of the season for the league – 278 average and 14 scores above 300. Burn Rubber (36th in Yahoo) was the surprise winner with a 346.





WORLD CUP
We have at least six teams playing in both the RPD and the RMFN, and depending on the matchups based on the seeds to start the season, the results at the end of the first round were startling for some. Cooter finished fifth in its RPD group but second in its RMFN group; the opposite was true for Hoosier.


Nine seeds were decided by tiebreakers, including three that decided automatic bids into the next round.

BRISTOL: 1. Junior Nation; 2. need4speed; 3. BLOWINSMOKE; 4. The Rough Riders (top fourth-place finisher, 271.6 avg)
TALLADEGA: 1. ~Rock~N~Roll; 2. Tar urn upside; 3. Black Bear. Tiebreakers: 1-2 head to head.
LOWE’S: 1. London Pride; 2. Ala @ Ga; 3. Rolling Thunder.
INDIANAPOLIS: 1. FordFucus; 2. Hoosier; 3. key west; 4. red clouds (No. 2 fourth-place finisher, 268.4 avg). Tiebreakers: 1-3 vs. red clouds racing, head to head.
HOMESTEAD: 1. jackman; 2. Anyone but Jimmie; 3. HP1Stewartfan. Tiebreakers: 2-3 vs. FC Newman.
DARLINGTON: 1. ~~Gotta Love Jr~~; 2. Rubbin’s Racin’; 3. #3 WILL NEVER. Tiebreakers: 2-4 head to head.
WATKINS GLEN: 1. Tony is the Man; 2. TOOLIN; 3. ~~Abbie Knows. Tiebreakers: 3-4 WC points average.
MARTINSVILLE: 1. 24 Speed Demon; 2. BlessedWyo; 3. Recession Aggression. Tiebreakers: 3-4 vs. 24 Speed Demon.
POCONO: 1. Rev-a-luions; 2. The Man; 3. Wade Chapman. Tiebreakers: 1-2 vs. Wade Chapman; 4-5 head to head.


The final finishes for the remaining teams were decided by grouping the fifth- and fourth-place teams together and then sorting them by WC points average. Driver of the Dodge Caravan was the last team eliminated with a 263.2 average.

DOUBLE ELIM BRACKET
Two races left in the second round.
Winners bracket: Dale’s Neck and Rolling Thunder have big leads; the difference between The Man and Tony is the Man is a mere 3 points.
Losers bracket: DaleEarnhardt3 and Anyone but Jimmie have more than 130 points to make up; the other matchups are within 100 points.

Two races left in the second round. There’s a 63-point difference between the last team advancing to the third round and the last team eliminated in the second round.




DOUBLE ELIM HEAT
Two races left in the second round.
Winners heat: FordFucus currently holds the last spot to advance; BLOWINSMOKE is currently the last team headed to the losers’ heat.
Losers heat: Rev-a-lusions holds the last spot to advance by just 4 points over Gonzo and Junior Nation and by 9 points over Anyone but Jimmie.




CHASE
Every team with a win would currently be in the Chase, given the 400-point cushion. The current cutoff would be 2539, leaving 34 teams in the Chase.




OVERALL
Some changes with the first round of the World Cup complete. The Man (21st) is the highest team with at least one elimination; Abbie Knows (27th) is the highest with two eliminations. Black Bear (26th) is the highest team with no eliminations.
