RPD - Chicago

nascar09.RPD.postChicago

OVERALL
TOOLIN leads with a 5.2 average and the first-half title from Yahoo. I mistakenly had yduck still alive in all competitions, but the duck was kncoked out of the World Cup early (finished 41st); my apologies. So we have six teams with eliminations from just one competition - TOOLIN, key west flyers, jackman48, BlessedWyoMom, Caguama Racing and yduck. Matchups between those teams from here on out will decide the overall title.
CHASE
Not a particularly strong week by the group at Chicago, and we actually added a team to the current Chase qualifiers - that number stands at 23, nine more than our RMFN counterparts after Chicago. Seven races to the cutoff; 50 points for each additional race win.

SECOND CHANCE
Ala @Ga has the hot hand - two consecutive 300+ weeks. The group average was average, as were the number of 300+ scores and sub-200 scores. Like the race, our scores were a snoozer.
WORLD CUP
Indy will mark the final races of the second round, Champion Qualifying. The top two teams from each group advance to the next phase, Chase Bracket. See the World Cup Seed page for seeding details (similar to the Track Qualifying phase).
Below: details on who can finish where or in some cases, what's been decided.
Earnhardt (a mess): 1. red clouds racing; final spot to Tony is the Man or The Man. The Man leads by one game and needs at tie with red clouds or a loss by Tony/Man to advance; Tony/Man needs a red clouds win and a win over Ala @ Ga to force a tiebreaker.
Petty (almost decided): 1/2. BlessedWyoMom, Caguama Racing. The two meet in the final race; a win by BWM or a tie secures first for BWM; a win by Caguama forces a tiebreaker.
Gordon (decided): 1. Hoosier; 2. Abbie Knows Girls Rule.
Pearson (a mess): 1. Anyone but Jimmie; tied for second: Gotta Love Jr, need4speed, Recession Aggression. The winner between Recession and Gotta has the edge for the final spot; need4speed needs to win vs. Anyone/Jimmie and force a tiebreaker with the winner of the other matchup.
Waltrip (almost decided): 1. key west flyers; jackman48 or Tar urn upside yo hed will finish second. Tar urn needs to beat key west; jackman has the ousted/nonplaying HP1Stewartfan.
Yarborough (almost decided): 1. TOOLIN'; #3 WILL NEVER ... or Wade Chapman will finish second. #3 takes on TOOLIN'; Wade plays Dale Earnhardt's Neck.
Allison (decided): 1. Rolling Thunder; 2. Rock~N~Roll.
Johnson (almost decided): 1. Rev-a-lusions; Black Bear has a one-game lead over Junior Nation, and the two meet in the final race of the round.

SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Update from Daytona: Gotta Love Jr won the closest race, eliminating Rolling Thunder by a 52-point margin. No. 7 Rolling joined four other top 10 seeds eliminated in the third round at Daytona - No. 1 Cooter (by BlessedWyoMom), No. 3 Hoosier (by #3 WILL ...) No. 6 BLOWINSMOKE (by Caguama Racing) and No. 8 Rubbin's Racin (by London Pride Ford).
After Chicago: BlessedWyoMom opened a 52-point lead over jackman48, the largest lead after the first race in the quarterfinals. This round, also six races, ends after Bristol.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Update from Daytona: Tough luck award to moonshiner, a loser by just 23 points in an elimination matchup with Black Bear. No. 1 Cooter and No. 2 BLOWINSMOKE were also eliminated in the losers' bracket only round.
After Chicago: Rolling Thunder opened a 63-point lead over need4speed and BlessedWyo leads TOOLIN by 27 in the winners' bracket. The three-race round ends after Pocono.
SINGLE ELIMINATION HEAT
Update from Daytona: BlessedWyoMom's run in the RMFN couldn't be replicated in RPD. BWM was eliminated by 18 points, finishing ninth in the final elimination spot after a 366-point race at Daytona. In addition to BWM, the remaining top 10 seeds were also eliminated at Daytona. No. 11 #3 WILL NEVER ... is the highest remaining seed.
After Chicago: #3 got off to a good start with 320; the round ends after Bristol.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION HEAT
Update from Daytona: yduck claimed the final advancing spot in the losers' heat by 22 points over kl motorsports. No. 3 Tar urn and No. 1 Cooter also didn't advance.
After Chicago: 52 points separate the four teams in the winners' heat; 59 separate the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in the losers' heat. The three-race round ends after Pocono.

RMFN - Chicago

nascar09.RMFN.postChicago

OVERALL
24rules leads with a 2.8 average and the first-half title from Yahoo. 24 was eliminated and finished 18th in the Single Bracket and faces upcoming challenges from three other teams who are still alive in all of the other competitions - SwOOp, ROADWARRIORS and HMS_Chevy_Gurl. 24rules and ROADWARRIORS have clinched spots in the next round of the World Cup (see below); SwOOP and HMS need a win this week and help.
CHASE
The cutoff trimmed seven positions after Chicago, thanks to some big scores at the top and low scores at the bottom. 14 teams are currently eligible; 50 additional points for race wins. Six races remain before Richmond.
SECOND CHANCE
Nice start by the group to the second half of the season - 17 teams above 300; just 1 below 200. The average of 279 tied for the group's third-best race of the season. ROADWARRIORS has the thot hand with three straight 300+ races.
Earnhardt (set): 1. Team Fritson; 2. RacinProwler.
Petty (a mess): 1. MEMTiger. FordFucus, REDNECK and SwOOp are tied entering the final week - REDNECK needs to beat MEMTiger and force a tiebreaker with the winner of SwOOP-FordFucus.
Gordon (almost set): 1/2. Rolling Thunder, Rocketman. Winner between the two at Indy is first; loser is second.
Pearson (almost set): 1/2. Leather & Lace, CandiiRacers. Leather holds a 1-game lead over Candii; the two meet at Indy; a win by Candii forces a tiebreaker for first.
Waltrip (almost set): 1/2. 24rules, Go Happy Harvick. Same as Gordon group.
Yarborough (almost set): 1. ROADWARRIORS; 2. Eight is Enough or Sliced Bread. The two battling for second meet at Indy - winner advances; loser is out.
Allison (a mess): 1/2. testcar; still a shot - HangOnHarvick and BH Racing. testcar clinches first with a tie or a loss by HangOn; BH has to win and needs HangOn to lose to Blue Angel to force a tiebreaker for the final spot.
Johnson (a mess): 1/2. NDI; still a shot - Bassman, HMS Chevy Gurl. NDI clinches first with a tie vs. Bassman; HMS needs a win by NDI and a win over Trouble in 2 to force a tiebreaker with Bassman.
SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Update from Daytona: Hoosier won the closest matchup by 59 points over Syrup. Only two other matchups over the six-race round were decided by 100 points or less. The quarterfinals feature the Nos. 42, 30, 29, 18, 17, 11, 7 and 4 seeded teams.
After Chicago: TURBO opened the biggest leads (74 over HMS Chevy). SwOOp leads Bassman (by 67); LT4SS leads BlessedWyoMom (by 43) and ROADWARRIORS leads Hoosier (by 12). This round, also six races, ends after Bristol.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Update from Daytona: Losers' bracket matchups only were completed. Tough luck award to BlessedWyoMom who lost by just 22 to FordFucus. No. 3 Heavy Metal Heroes was also eliminated.
After Chicago: Semifinal matchups (with margins of 25 and 26 points after Saturday's snoozer) Sliced Bread-testcar and 24rules-ROADWARRIORS (see Overall note for implications here). This round covers just three races and ends after Pocono.
SINGLE ELIMINATION HEAT
BlessedWyoMom's big score at Daytona shuffled the outcome of the third round. BWM was next to last (15th out of 16) heading into Daytona but finished seventh, 55 points clear of the elimination zone. Rolling Thunder (5 points), RacinProwler (10) and Redline Outlaw (12) were close but no cigars.
After Chicago: Five of the eight remaining teams opened the quarterfinals with 300+ scores. HMS Chevy Gurl is already facing a big deficit. Like the bracket version, this round ends after Bristol.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION HEAT
The BlessedWyoMom comments from the Single Heat apply here, as well. BWM was last out of 18 in the losers' heat entering Daytona but finished fifth, 55 points clear of the elimination zone. Bassman (8 points) and MEMTiger (12) were the closest eliminated teams.
After Chicago: Three of the four teams in the winners' heat posted 300+ scores. Two did so in the losers' heat; HMS Chevy and need4speed face big deficits in the three-race round that ends after Pocono.

RPD - New Hampshire

OVERALL
jackman holds a comfortable lead in first, with a 12th-place standing in the summer season. TOOLIN's in second, despite an elimination in the double-elim heat competition - that should help it stay at or near the top come the fall.

CHASE
21 teams are eligible for the Chase with eight races to go to Richmond. Wins (an additional 50 points) are the key at this point to keeping, losing or gaining positions.
LOUDON
Average week for the RPD, but for the third straight week, the sub-200 point group was in the single digits. key west flyers, TOOLIN, BURNINRUBBER and Abbie Knows have posted consecutive 300-plus weeks, the first since Charlotte-Dover.

SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Daytona marks the end of round three. Lots of blowouts and in all likelihood TOOLIN (358 over Tar urn), jackman (259 over FordFucus), Caguama Racing (255 over BLOWINSMOKE) and yduck (197 over Wade Chapman) will advance. Hooser leads #3 by just 18 and Rolling Thunder leads Gotta Love Jr by just 4.
DOUBLE ELIMINATION HEAT
One race left in Round Five, and only losers' bracket matchups. Tony is the Man leads Cooter by 150 and key west leads BLOWINSMOKE by 110. The closest matchup is moonshiners' 21-point lead over Black Bear.
FordFucus received a losers' bracket bye in the sixth round; winners bracket matchups on deck are need4speed-Rolling Thunder and TOOLIN-BlessedWyoMom.
SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Daytona is the final race in the third round. Abbie Knows currently holds the final spot, 58 points ahead of Rolling Thunder (seeded seventh) and 62 ahead of Gotta Love Jr. Everyone below is in big trouble, including our other remaining top 10 seeds (No. 2 Tony is the Man; No. 9 BlessedWyoMom; and No. 1 Cooter).
DOUBLE ELIMINATION HEAT
The fifth round - losers' heat only - ends at Daytona. FordFucus currently holds the final advancing spot by just 3 points over kl motorsports, 4 over Hoosier and 8 over Black Bear. No. 3 Tar turn and No. 1 Cooter are more than 100 points back.
BlessedWyoMom, Rolling Thunder, jackman and key west will battle in the sixth-round winners' heat.

WORLD CUP
Three weeks remain in the Champion Qualifying; the top two teams in each group advance. Here's a look at who will advance to the bracket (group):
IN: red clouds racing (Earnhardt), Hoosier (Gordon), Anyone but Jimmie (Pearson), TOOLIN (Yarborough), Rolling Thunder (Allison).
Typically by this point in the round, a handful of teams have been eliminated; not so with this competitive bunch. Everyone in the Champion Qualifying is still eligible to advance. The Petty, Waltrip and Johnson groups are very close after New Hampshire.

RMFN - New Hampshire

OVERALL
Bassman has a firm hold on the top spot, holding at ninth in the summer season - its lowest position in each of our competitions.
24rules, 18th in the single-elimination bracket, stands third and figures to be in the mix by August.
CHASE
The cutoff will currently forward 20 teams into the Chase. Wins are a premium bonus right now for those on the cusp - 50 additional points.

LOUDON
283 group average and 16 teams above 300 was the best week since Charlotte. With the removal of Roadrunner, RMFN posted consecutive weeks of 0 teams at less than 200 for the first time this season.
SINGLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Round Three ends at Daytona. Bassman (180 over testcar) and Hoosier (143 over Syrup) appear headed to the fourth round. All other matchups are within 100 points, including MEM-LT4SS (11 points), SwOOp-whoopdewhoo (19) and TURBO-NDI (tied).

DOUBLE ELIMINATION BRACKET
Losers' bracket matchups only complete the fifth round. FordFucus has a 102-point lead over BlessedWyoMom; all other matchups are within 100 points. SwOOp's 5-point lead over RacinProwler is the closest.
Round Six, winners' bracket: Sliced Bread vs. testcar; 24rules vs. ROADWARRIORS
Round Six, losers' bracket: Rolling Thunder received a bye from the fifth round; other teams TBD.
SINGLE ELIMINATION HEAT
testcar holds the final advancing spot with one race left in the third round. It leads ROADWARRIORS by 11 points and Team Lester by 25. Rember that Lester jumped six spots in the final race of Round Two to advance. Four other teams are within 100 points of testcar.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION HEAT
SwOOp holds the final advancing spot with one race left in the fifth round. It holds a 2-point lead over Hoosier, 5 over RacinProwler and 12 over Couch Potato Racing. 100 points separate SwOOp and last place BlessedWyoMom.
testcar, NDI, 24rules and ROADWARRIORS resume winners' heat play in the sixth round.
WORLD CUP
There are three weeks to go in the Champion Qualifying. The top two teams from each group advance. A look a who's will advance and who's been eliminated (group):
IN: Team Fritson (Earnhardt); MEMTiger (Petty); Leather & Lace (Pearson).
OUT: PeTeeTong (Pearson); Roadrunner (Yarborough).
The Allison and Johnson groups are still very close with three races to go.

Mayfield

I'll keep this short -

* I think he's guilty.
* I think NASCAR is keeping the substance private because it's a major drug, and it really doesn't need the PR mess that would follow (considering they let him drive after the first positive test).
Discuss.

Second-best week of the season for the league – 280 average and 13 scores above 300. KC Chief (42nd in Yahoo) was the surprise winner with a 361.

WORLD CUP
We have at least six teams playing in both the RPD and the RMFN, and depending on the matchups based on the seeds to start the season, the results at the end of the first round were startling for some. Cooter finished fifth in its RPD group but second in its RMFN group; the opposite was true for Hoosier.

Nine seeds were decided by tiebreakers, including two that decided automatic bids into the next round.
DAYTONA: 1. 24rules; 2. Cooter; 3. HangOnHarvick. Tiebreakers: 2-3 vs. Byhalia; 4-5 head to head.
BRISTOL: 1. Eight is Enough; 2. Redline Outlaw; 3. Team Lester. Tiebreakers: 2-3 vs. Eight is Enough.
TALLADEGA: 1. Bassman Racing; 2. PeTeeTong-Wachs; 3. N.D.I. 4. Heavy Metal Heroes (No. 2 fourth-place finisher, 262.5 average). Tiebreakers: 2-4 head to head; 2-3 head to head.
