2013 preseason & Daytona
Welcome to the 2013 season of Rocky Mountain Fantasy NASCAR.

The initial post includes a 49-team field. We did find a 50th team after the first race, but those points are not included in this report.
Moving forward, all of the points AJ Sideways accumulates will be counted in the Yahoo competitions but the Daytona points will not be counted in the other competitions.
Quick notes and links on the competitions:
Seeding: Two formats are used to seed - and therefore pair teams for competition. The single-elimination competitions rate teams based on Yahoo fantasy NASCAR percentage finish from the most recent season. If two teams finished in the same percentage, the team that registered for RMFN first will receive the higher seed. All other competitions are a culmination of prior Yahoo fantasy NASCAR percentage finishes pro-rated from most recent to rookie campaign. Links: 2009 2010 2011 2012
Overall: Average finish in each of RMFN's competitions. The top award for RMFN. Links: 2009 2011
Yahoo: We crown champions based soley on Yahoo points for: overall season, first half, second half, spring, summer and fall. The season champions are simply based on breaking the NASCAR schedule into thirds. You'll note that this is different from Yahoo's seasonal breakdown - it places the final/fall season over the last 10 races (also subbing it as a "Chase.").
World Cup: Three stages - two group and one bracket. The group stages are noted by weekly matches for each participating team. My favorite RMFN competition. Links: 2009 2010 2011 2012
Single Elimination: Win and stay in; lose and you're done. Seeding based on 2012/prior season finish. Links: 2009 2010 2011 2011 2012 2012
Double Elimination: Two chances; lose twice and you're done. Links: 2009 2009 2010 2011 2011 2012 2012
Bracket: Set up like a basketball tournament. The top 14 seeds receive first-round byes; first-round winners are then reseeded for the second-round matchups. Links: 2009 2010 2011 2011 2012 2012
Heat: Finish in the top half (or thereabouts) and advance. Same number of seeds receive first-round byes; no reseeding is needed for the second round. Links: 2009 2009 2010 2011 2011 2012 2012
Old Chase: Uses the initial Chase format, focusing on Yahoo points and bonus points (awarded throughout the season) for individual race wins. Links: 2009 2011
New Chase: Uses Yahoo points to qualify for the Chase and individual race wins for the two wild card spots. For the final 12 races, bonus points for wins are awarded for all races; points are allocated based on finish (1st place=50 points, 2nd-49, etc.).
Head-to-Head: Season-long, 50-team round-robin. I've tried to compete the template for this in previous seasons without luck; I'm very close to finishing it this year. Hopefully, we can keep it through Miami. Links: 2011
Track: We'll crown champions for best success at short, intermediate, superspeedway and road races.
Immunity: Similar to others you'll see at Yahoo - 3 scores at the bottom and you're eliminated; wins gain immunity for the next race. If more than one team finishes the season tied with fewest Ks (bottom-three scores), best score at Miami wins the title.
YROC (Yahoo Race of Champions): Win a race to qualify for the finale; top score among the individual race winners claims the title. Teams that win multiple races in the season take that spot in the finale, as well (i.e. fewer qualifiers).
Ladder: Teams are ordered based on overall seed, 25 matchups each week. Winners move up, losers move down. Team at the top rung after Miami is the champion.

The craziest race of the season (and perhaps ever) resulted in the worst points race of the season for RMFN - 23 teams below 200 points. Gross.
Hook'n Up claimed the Short Track title; we'll crown the other champions at Miami.
